Gala
Red Carpet Moments

On a peculiar evening in May, the night sky glowed pink and feathery green, ablaze with the northern lights: a rare sighting in Utah. In the city, magical beings headed to a ball.
Ornately adorned people walked through Salt Lake City, leaving delicate petals, jewels, and leaves on the path to their grand gathering. If you were curious enough to follow these folks, you would be surprised to see them completely ignore the thriving green of the city parks. Instead, with gleeful determination, they headed toward the crowd of industrial buildings and slipped through a brick lined alleyway. You could barely catch their chatter and laughter before they vanished into the tremulous, nostalgic cries of a violin.
Lucky for you, dear reader, I had a special invitation on this rare gathering night. Vessel Lifestylish Magazine, in conjunction with Blood + Blush Studios, hosted a gala in Salt Lake City with a theme straight out of a fairytale: "The Garden of Time."
The gala goers spared little expense in their self-expression; I saw beauties in wispy summer gowns with vines creeping up their legs, a mysterious designer shadowed underneath the wide brim of a clockwork hat, and butterflies tangled mid-flight in the beards of tall broad-shouldered men. I did not have the chance to be in awe long before photographers swept past me to capture red carpet photos of these immaculately dressed guests. In this hall, ruffled petals of a grandiose and colorful floral arrangement of Gladiolus, as well as purple bursts of Dutch Iris spilled out from the decor, among other beautiful flowers and leaves.
The most popular room was a photo studio with Gothic themes: Greek pillars filled the spaces that were not filled with people. In beautiful juxtaposition to the bright and lively floral ball in the hall, the photo studio had the drapes drawn, giving an ambience of mystery. A man in black with stretches of ink reaching up his throat photographed a beautiful woman with deer antlers that spanned past her shoulders. A man with Viking braids photographed three women who looked like sirens or fairies out of a story book.
Most beautiful of all were the charities, Walking for Gold and The Pawerful Rescue, that the Garden of Time Gala supported, as well as the specialists that the gala employed, and the joy of creation and fashion that all participants shared together. It is difficult to describe the sights I saw without you, dear reader, seeing it for yourself, but by God, we enjoyed a magical night amidst the people of fashion and art.
